Pelvic Health and Hormone Acupuncture in Ottawa
Acupuncture for period cramps, endometriosis, PCOS, and more
Can acupuncture reduce pelvic pain?
If you’re dealing with pelvic pain, whether that’s from endometriosis, adenomyosis, dysmenorrhea, or pelvic congestion syndrome (PCS), acupuncture can help reduce your pain levels. It’s also helpful in reducing spotting between cycles, heavy flow, clotting, and PMS symptoms.
A diagnosis is not necessary in order to address these issues. Your symptoms will help direct the treatment. Additionally, treatment will not interfere with your ability to pursue a diagnosis in the future.
Acupuncture is a really useful tool for treating hormones and pelvic health.
In Ottawa, where resources to address these issues are limited, it’s crucial to get additional support for your condition.
Frequently Asked Pelvic acupuncture Questions
What kinds of imbalances with hormones can acupuncture help with?
I can help balance a big variety of hormonal conditions, including thyroid imbalances, estrogen dominance, PCOS, amenorrhea, and autoimmune hormonal imbalances.
Menopause also benefits from acupuncture treatment. We can focus on reducing hot flashes, night sweats, brain fog, and many more of the symptoms that commonly come up.
Acupuncture also helps with unexplained hormone imbalances that lead to water retention, changes in weight, and low energy.
We can work on re-establishing the balance in the HPA axis (more commonly called adrenal fatigue).
Other issues that often improve with acupuncture include mid-cycle spotting, irregular periods, and acne. A lot can also be done to address fertility.
How quickly will I see results?
While this varies widely from one person to the next, issues relating to hormones are generally a bit slower to change than other health issues. Since hormonal cycles are much lengthier than other cycles in the body, it can take weeks to see changes.
However, we normally pay attention to other aspects of your health to see if your body is responding. Often, we can use improvements in your digestion or mental health as a good indicator that the treatment course is on the right track.
When in my cycle should I get acupuncture for hormones?
When we first start treatment, timing won’t matter at all. There’s often a lot of work to do at the root of the issue before we even start focusing on fine tuning the different parts of your cycle.
Having your period also won’t interfere with the treatments. In fact, many people choose to come in at the start of their period to help ensure a smoother period.
